A Riot Shield will join Call of Duty: WWII along with the new Cavalry Division

A fan-favorite “weapon” from previous Call of Duty titles is set to join the latest installment in the popular franchise.

The Riot Shield is coming to Call of Duty: WWII as a part of the new Division called Cavalry. YouTuber TheseKnivesOnly published a video earlier today that gave fans their first glimpse at what the Shield will look like in WWII.

Longtime Call of Duty fans will remember the Riot Shield, which made its debut in the franchise in Modern Warfare 2. Based on the limited footage we’ve seen so far from TheseKnivesOnly, it seems like the Shield in WWII will act similarly to its counterpart from MW2—allowing players to bash their opponents’ skulls in with a melee attack.

The Shield will become available in WWII as a part of the game’s new Cavalry Division. Charlie Intel listed the abilities of this Division, which will allow players to carry a Shield, perform a “Shield Charge to ram enemies” while sprinting, and gain “improved objective capabilities.” Objectives will also give extra score to players using Cavalry, and two assists will equal a kill thanks to the fourth ability in this Division.

The Cavalry Division will come to WWII on Tuesday, June 26 along with three new Basic Trainings that TheseKnivesOnly debuted yesterday. The game’s third DLC map pack, United Front, is also set to join WWII on this date.

It’s pretty clear that Call of Duty: WWII fans have a lot to look forward to next week.
