The rich world of Minecraft will become even more interesting with the upcoming Deep Dark biome, set to make its way to the game with the release of the Wild Update on June 7.
Players have been eagerly waiting for the update. They have had access to a series of snapshots showcasing all of the exciting content that’s on the way, including the Deep Dark, the Warden, functioning Sculk blocks, frogs, a new mangrove swamp biome, the Allay, a new wood type, and much more.
Most of the new content being added with Minecraft’s Wild Update exists within the Deep Dark biome, meaning that players will likely want to head to one as soon as they can. But since this is a new biome, players may find themselves confused and unsure of how to locate the Deep Dark. Finding the Deep Dark biome naturally will require strategy and luck, but players can also use a code to locate the biome instantly.
How to find the Deep Dark biome in Minecraft
The Deep Dark biome is a rare underground area home to the Warden, various Sculk blocks, and mysterious ancient cities loaded with precious loot. Some loot is exclusive to the ancient cities found in the Deep Dark biome including swift sneak enchantment books and music disc fragments.
The only requirement to find a Deep Dark biome is that players must look anywhere below zero altitude (y level zero), meaning that players hoping to naturally find them simply need to mine down low or find a cave that runs deep to seek out the biome. Lots of deepslate is usually a good sign that you are searching in the right area for the Deep Dark biome.
Generally, the best way to naturally find a Deep Dark biome is through exploring massive caves that go into y levels below zero. Deep Dark biomes usually seem to be connected to caves, and searching for the biome through already-created caves will be much more efficient than trying to go mining for one and hoping you luckily stumble across it.
If you don’t want to spend the time searching for a Deep Dark biome or you are having trouble locating it, you can also use the “/locate” command to find the nearest one instantly. Open the chat using T, then type “/locatebiome minecraft:deep_dark” for the coordinates of the closest deep dark biome. After finding the coordinates, you can then either click on them to teleport directly to the biome or pull up your coordinates using the debug menu and make your way to the deep dark by navigating your way to it.
