How to level up fast in Fortnite: Battle Royale

April 2023 · 5 minute read

Fortnite players are always eager to rank up their battle pass. Leveling up your battle pass is the most efficient way of unlocking new skins and you can also make up for your V-Buck investment. You’ll unlock more tiers as you gain XP and level up, while unlocking more cosmetic items in the process.

While most battle passes capped at level 100 during the early days of Fortnite, Epic Games started including even more content, so the most hardcore players keep coming back to the game after they max out their battle passes.

Considering each season runs for a limited time, you’ll need to max out your battle pass before the next season begins. Though it won’t be any trouble if you play daily and focus on completing most of your quest, you may also be working against a timer if you have limited time to play.

Here’s everything you can do to maximize your XP gain in Fortnite.

Perform XP-granting actions in matches

Not all Fortnite players share similar playstyles. In the course of your Fortnite career, you’ll stumble upon players that prioritize defense and the ones that just attack, no matter the consequences.

You’ll need a decent mix of both to maximize your XP gain in matches. The following in-game objectives may have small XP rewards, but they start adding up over time.

Survive till the end

If you aren’t looking to quickly complete a quest, trying to make it to the end of a match will help you score the most amount of XP per game.

As mentioned in the section above, you’ll passively gain more XP as you continue to survive in a match and you’ll also be able to rack up more XP by scoring more takedowns.

Opening chests and loot boxes will also be an excellent source of XP, and this will be the best way to grind XP if you don’t have any more quests left. The chances of you unlocking milestones as you continue to play should also increase since they’ll require you to perform natural tasks like taking out five-to-10 players with assault rifles.

Completing all daily and weekly challenges

Each Fortnite season introduces new quests, and new ones get added every week. Alongside all the weekly quests, players also have access to event-related quests, which also come with decent XP rewards.

Completing all the daily and weekly quests is the best free way of obtaining the most amount of XP in a Fortnite season. Though it doesn’t make a difference in the long run, you can stack up your daily quests to gain Supercharged status and earn the reward for all of them by completing a single challenge in the future. You can quicken the process by watching guides before attempting to complete your quests since it’ll help you get them done as soon as possible.

If you’re short on time, you should consider prioritizing completing quests with higher rarities. Legendary quests, for example, reward a lot more XP than rare quests, and completing them first will help you gain more XP for your time. After completing all the legendary ones, you can focus on epics and rares.

While it doesn’t happen in every season, season quests get introduced to the game in the middle of a season. Considering these will be extra quests to the weekly ones, you should complete them before the seasonal events end since they’ll only be available for the event’s duration.

Buy the premium battle pass

The main reason why completing your quests is the best/free way to gain the most XP is because it comes in second vs. purchasing battle pass levels. If you’d like to avoid grinding XP, you can simply purchase the premium battle pass or purchase tiers to unlock more rewards.

If you purchase all the tiers at the beginning of a season, not only will you have access to all cosmetics faster than anyone, you’ll also save time you’d spend completing quests.

Collect the XP coins

Generally starting around the seventh week of each season, Epic starts placing random XP coins around the map. You’ll only need to find these coins in matches to collect them and turning it into a habit until a season ends will allow you to stack more XP than you could count.

XP coins reset weekly and they’re placed at random locations each week, meaning you’ll have some research to do before jumping into a match.

Play with friends

While most in-game challenges will be simple enough to complete by yourself, there will also be squad-related challenges or ones you can get done faster with a helping hand. It’s generally a good idea to have some company while completing quests just so you can help each other out in the process.

If one of your squadmates has a quest that requires them to open loot boxes, you can alert them of one and help them move onto the next quest as soon as possible.
