Dr. Alexander Nox is a menace in the Frontier.
The sadistic, toxin-wielding maniac is one of the original characters in Apex Legends. He’s locked in the base game, but players can unlock him with Legend Tokens or Apex Coins. That’s when the fun begins.
Caustic’s playstyle is defensive with a hint of sadism. The Toxic Trapper uses his Nox Gas Trap to slowly kill enemies locked in tight spaces. But he also has an interesting design in the game, wearing a creepy gas mask and holstering his gas on his person at all times—and that’s before even factoring in his lore.
Caustic is one of the OG legends of Apex. He’s been receiving new skins ever since the game’s release, which allows devs to start getting more creative. While some Caustic skins can be simple color changes, others give the legend a completely different look.
Here are the rarest skins for Caustic in Apex Legends.
Limited-Time Cosmetics
Prince of Darkness
Caustic doesn’t look like someone who’d enjoy wearing a luxury outfit as he roams around the field, which may make fans wonder what if Caustic was a royal. The Prince of Darkness skin for Caustic features the legend in a rather posh outfit with golden touches.
The armor is quite detailed and it makes Caustic look like a member of the Roman Empire. The skin was added to the game during its second season and players could unlock it after getting their battle pass to level 25.
Mad King
Caustic has a rather large skin pool He has the option to become both a jester and a ruler with the Mad King skin.
The Mad King is a recolor of the Prince of Darkness skin and features Caustic in red armor with golden details. Mad King was added to Apex during the 2021 Anniversary collection event in February.
The Last Laugh
Holiday seasons also change the decorations around Apex. They also give Respawn a chance to experiment with more out-of-the-box skin ideas, and The Last Laugh is one of them.
The Last Laugh features Caustic in a clown costume, and it doesn’t look like a friendly clown at all. The skin itself looks scary and, fittingly enough, was added to Apex during the 2019 Fight or Fright event in October. It returned in the Fright and Fright event in 2020 alongside a recolor.
Sweet Dreams
Respawn enjoys upping the cosmetic game through the years. Sweet Dreams is another Halloween costume, and that means more clowns. This recolor takes the original formula and improves it with darker colors that give Caustic a post-apocalyptic look.
The Sweet Dreams visual was added to Apex during the 2020 Fight or Fright event in October and returned during the Monsters Within event in October 2021.
Claustic
Considering Respawn delivered a Halloween Caustic costume, it would be unlikely for them to miss out on a Christmas-themed skin for the legend.
Caustic turns into a more buff and fit Santa Claus in this skin. The cosmetic was added to the game Holo-Day Bash event that took place in December 2019 and made additional appearances during the same season in 2020 and 2021.
Necrosis
Just because Caustic couldn’t turn into a simulacrum at the end of season nine doesn’t mean he can’t get his way in an in-game skin. Compared to Casutic’s other cosmetics, Necrosis looks the most different. It completely changes the nature of the legend since it turns him into a robot.
The mechanic Caustic mainly features green tones with a couple of metallic grays sprinkled in there. Necrosis was introduced to the game during the System Override event in March 2020, and the skin only returned once to the game: during the Evolution event in September 2021.
Gasbuster
Caustic can look scary and some of his skins make him downright terrifying. Gasbuster is one of the rarer skins that make Caustic look like an army general.
Gasbuster features Caustic in a dirty white uniform with a mechanism attached to his chest. The skin was added to the game during the Lost Treasures collection event in June 2020, and made a second appearance at the Genesis event in June 2021.
Killing Joke
Caustic’s clown skin already had a joker vibe to it. The Killing Joke, on the other hand, takes it to another level and turns Caustic into a true villain.
The Killing Joke features Caustic in a thick coat with face paint and a hat. The skin was added to the game during the Aftermarket collection event in October 2020 and reappeared in the shop during the Raiders event in December 2021.
Deputy of Death
When there’s a new sheriff in town, you ought to respect them, especially if they’re called the Deputy of Death. This skin features Caustic in a western outfit with multiple skulls surrounding his body.
The Deputy of Death skin for Caustic was added to Apex with the Chaos Theory collection event, which took place in March 2021.
Silverback
The Silverback skin features Caustic in a rather space-like outfit. He resembles Marvel’s Ant-Man with the helmet, but he’d be considered too buffed for the role if he ever were to audition.
Silverback was added to the game during the ALGS Championship sale in May 2021, then returned in December that year in a separate bundle.
Synthesis Chamber
Freezing someone’s body and then unfreezing at a later date has been a sci-fi dream that could allow people to skip through the years in a heartbeat. There have been examples of the technology in the movies and most people who end up waking at a later date look pretty much like the Synthesis Chamber cosmetic.
Synthesis Chamber was added to Apex during the Monsters Within event in 2021.
Tiger Blood
Tiger-like colors may not work that well for camo purposes, but they look cool enough to be featured in cosmetics. Tiger Blood features Caustic in tiger colors with a tiger-like creature imprinted on his armor.
Tiger Blood was added to Apex during the Legendary Hunt event in June 2019, then returned in The Old Ways event in April 2020 and as part of the Black Friday sale that year.
Barrel of Laughs
Barrel of Laughs is one of the best-looking Epic skins in Apex. The colorwork on the skin is nothing short of amazing, and the yellow details complete the black suit. The skin was added to the game during the Iron Crown collection event in August 2019.
Grave Robber
The Grave Robber skin doesn’t feature Caustic as an actual Grave Robber. Instead, it features Caustic in a green-and-black outfit, and it was added to the game during the Chaos Theory event in March 2021.
Bloodshot
Giveaway skins can sometimes fly under the radar since there tends to be better-looking cosmetics in the game. That’s hardly the case for Apex, though. Bloodshot was given out to the active PlayStation Plus subscribers in August 2019, and the skin features Caustic in a black outfit with orange and red details.
Freezer Burn
Freezer Burn features a completely frozen Caustic in line with the icy theme of Apex’s third season, Meltdown. It was added to the game during season three as a tier 37 reward in the battle pass.
Chemical Compound
Chemical Compound features Caustic in a green outfit that has several shapes on it. The skin itself looks basic, but it does a decent job at preserving the legend’s core look.
Chemical Compound was available as a Twitch drop in October 2019.
Geometric Anomaly
Geometric Anomaly features Caustic in a white-and-red outfit. It was also added to the game as a Twitch drop in January 2020.
Cyber Sludge
Added to Apex during its fourth season, Cyber Sludge makes Caustic look almost like an alien. The skin was awarded to players who level up their battle pass to 60 during the season.
Future’s Past
This skin’s name does a decent job of explaining the theme around it. Caustic looks like he’s visiting the past from the future in this skin added in the Fight Night event in January 2021.
Cold Blooded
Cold Blooded is yet another Twitch drop skin. It was available during April 2021. The skin features Caustic in a blue suit, and the worn off colors make him look like a scientist working in a cold environment.
Terrestrial Shell
Introduced in the Arenas Flash event during the ninth season, Terrestrial Shell features Caustic in a blue-and-green outfit.
Recolors
The Trophy Hunter
The Trophy Hunter requires players to unlock Blackheart first. Compared to Blackheart, The Trophy Hunter can be considered as a completely white version of the original.
Dark Cloud
Players will need to add Divine Right to their collections to be able to unlock Dark Cloud. This skin features Caustic in a black outfit with an eye band.
Waste Management
If you have the Philosopher’s Stone skin unlocked, you’ll be able to craft Waste Management. Caustic looks like a veteran member of the sewerage department in this skin who looks to be ready to snap at any time.
Bloodthirsty
Bloodthirsty features Caustic in a stylish outfit that features multiple tones of green and red. Players looking to unlock this skin will need to unlock Sixth Sense first.
Inmate Nox
Inmate Nox has Caustic dressed like an inmate and the skin tops up the look with a blue mask. Fans wishing to unlock this skin will need to obtain Blackheart first.
